AWARE President, Norman Wernet and his staff have dedicated their lives to fighting for the rights of retired Brothers and Sisters. Partnered with the Alliance for Retired Americans, a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization of retired trade union members affiliated with the AFL-CIO, Norm and his team strive to ensure social and economic justice and full civil rights for all citizens so that they may enjoy lives of dignity, personal fulfillment and security.
Just because a member retires and moves on to enjoy the fruits of his or hers labor doesn't mean that they don't have a vested interest in what’s going on. Throughout Ohio and our country legislators are passing laws every day that that directly effect both the retiree and their Union. Laws that in some way or another effect Social Security, Pensions, Medicare and Medicaid.
To make sure our retired members are educated and our legislators are held accountable for the laws they pass, both the National and the Ohio Alliance for Retired Americans have put together a couple of sources you should check out.
