Providing quality electricians to the Mid-Ohio Valley since 1919

 

The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local Union 972 is a proud part of the Mid-Ohio Valley. Chartered June 19th 1919, we currently represent 240 Union Electricians that live and work within the jurisdiction for a variety of customers, and locations.

             IBEW LOCAL #972 REFERRAL POLICY

 

                                                                                           Effective 8/1/2017

 

Applicants must initially register on the “Out of Work List” in person during normal work hours, Monday through Friday. (Holidays Excluded) Applicants on their initial registration and during resigns must include their Name, Local Union Number, Card Number, current address and phone number(s).

Registrants must renew their application from the 10th to the 16th of each month by one of the following three (3) methods to remain on the “Out of Work List”:

 

   1)    In person (Monday – Friday during normal business hours. Office will be closed on holidays, and weekends)

   2)    Mail to: IBEW Local 972 at, 50 Sandhill Rd., Reno, Ohio 45773 (Must be postmarked between the 10th to the 16th

          of the month)

   3)   Website: ibew972.com

 

 

 

Registrants must renew re-sign in personannually from the 10th to the 16th of the anniversary month of their original sign date to remain on the “Out of Work List”:

 

Each applicant is responsible to keep his/her address and phone number(s) current with the IBEW Local Union 972 office, when any changes occur.

 

Registrants, who fail to renew their application from the 10th to the 16th of the month and/or in person annually as described, will be removed from the list and must re-register in person.

 

Registrants will be contacted by telephoneat the number(s) provided by the registrant. The registrant will be allowed two (2) turndowns without penalty and will be removed from the list on the third turndown. Registrants that cannot be contacted at the telephone number(s) provided or who are unavailable for referral when work opportunities are being offered shall be considered a turndown.

 

Rejection by the employer is not a turndown.

 

The registrant must re-register in person after being removed from the list.

 

Short call duration will be 21 calendar days or less and will be handled on a rotating basis to spread the short calls to everyone on the Out of Work List.

 

Example: Number 14 on the out of work list mans the last short call for this week. I will begin with Number 15 the following week for short calls. So forth and so on until I have gone through the last person on the out of work list before returning to the top of the list. After I have exhausted Book 1, I will then proceed to Book II in the same manner.

 

Refusal of a short call will not count as a turndown. Those working on a short call will not be eligible for a long call until being laid off from your short call.

 

The Business Manager is responsible to fill calls in a timely manner as needed by the employers. Referrals may have to be made outside normal hours using whatever means necessary to fill the request by the employer to place registrants.

 

DISCHARGE FOR CAUSE POLICY

 

It shall be the policy of the Local Union that individuals who receive two discharges for cause within a twelve-month period will be suspended from future referral privileges until they appear before the Appeals Committee for determination as to their continued eligibility for referral.

On the left-hand side (Members Area) go Book Re-sign.  Click on >(arrow) on the right side of Book Re-sign.  You will be asked which book you wish to re-sign.  Click all that applies to you.

 

After you received confirmation that you have re-signed…log out and you will be finished.

The Job line will be updated by 5:00 pm each day. At 7:30 am the next day a list of interested members will be printed and given to the Business Manager.  He will call you if you are next in line for the Job you are interested in.

Member bidding—double click on click here for job listing of jobs.

 

Choose the jobs you may be interested in.

 

Log out and the Local Union will let you know if you are next in line for that particular job.

Listen to the complete message on all jobs available. Choose the jobs you may be interested in by leaving a message indicating your preferences.
